FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – PREPARE TO INVADE THE PUBLIC TEST SERVER (Re-Print from Bethesda)

We’ve been hard at work making final preparations to reopen the Public Test Server (PTS) for our next major game update, “Invaders from Beyond”. In this edition of Inside the Vault, we’re sharing a look at upcoming features and improvements that will be available for playtesting in the Test Server. We’ve also got details on this weekend’s “Hunt for the Treasure Hunter” event.

INVADERS FROM BEYOND UPDATE COMING TO THE PTS

A little later today, we’re planning to reopen the PTS so that you can share feedback with us on the “Invaders from Beyond” Update coming in March. We’re eager to hear your thoughts on an out-of-this-world new Seasonal Event, Fallout Worlds improvements, a new Public Event that’s planned for another update later this year, and more. Read on to catch additional details before you dive into playtesting.

“INVADERS FROM BEYOND” SEASONAL EVENT

Otherworldly interlopers are invading our skies and preying on our brainwaves! Every hour on the hour during this all-new Seasonal Event, an alien mothership will hover above a high-profile Appalachian location to deploy Brainwave Siphons. Disrupt their efforts by banding together with fellow humans to destroy any Siphons in the area and show the aliens who’s really the boss around these parts. When you do, you’ll have a chance to earn rare plans to craft new alien weaponry, as well as high-tech additions for your C.A.M.P.

We’ve also received reports that our curious visitors have been spotted at various Public Events, so be sure to keep your guard up as you adventure around Appalachia.

FALLOUT WORLDS IMPROVEMENTS

One of the top Fallout Worlds requests that we see from the community is for progress in Public and Custom Worlds to also count toward Adventure Mode. We’re pleased to let you know that, with the Invaders from Beyond Update, you will be able to continue your Season journey by earning S.C.O.R.E. from any non-repeatable Daily and Weekly Challenges you complete in Public and Custom Worlds.

Additionally, we’ve rustled up a variety of new settings for you to tinker with in Custom Worlds. Disable VATS versus other Dwellers, or turn it off entirely, make your enemies explode into a burst of confetti, allow C.A.M.P. objects to intersect with one another, and more!

“TEST YOUR METAL” PUBLIC EVENT

Please note: “Test Your Metal” is slated for a future patch that will arrive after the Invaders from Beyond Update. However, we’ve included it in this PTS to begin gathering early community input. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

The Brotherhood of Steel recently learned that the Rust Eagles, an offshoot of the Blood Eagles, have been cobbling together a regiment of deadly combat bots from spare parts they’ve scavenged. Scribe Valdez sent a Field Team to investigate the threat these bots pose by competing against them in the Rust Eagle Arena. If they’re going to come out on top, they’ll need a little more firepower—and that’s where you come in. Gear up and help the “Gladiators of Steel” emerge victorious over the Rust Eagles’ robot army. The more Gladiators who survive the Arena, the higher your chances to earn rare rewards, like the new Raider Robot Armor plan.

IT’S TIME TO HUNT FOR TREASURE HUNTERS!

Extraterrestrials may be arriving with our next patch, but they aren’t the only ones planning an invasion. Treasure Hunter Mole Miners are already digging their way up to the surface so they can plunder the Wasteland all weekend long. Track down Treasure Hunters in all regions of Appalachia and take them out to loot their Mole Miner Pails, which you can open to reclaim some of the riches they’ve scavenged. You can also visit your favorite Vendors to exchange Caps for Empty Mole Miner Pails. Take them to a Tinker’s Workbench to fill them up, and then open your freshly-crafted Mole Miner Pails to claim some more loot.

The Hunt for the Treasure Hunter event begins at 12:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, January 13, and it lasts until that same time on Monday, January 17.

Have a fantastic week, and until next time we’ll see you in Appalachia.

FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – DECEMBER 2021 HIGHLIGHTS (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome back to Inside the Vault! This week, we’re sharing a video highlighting some of the larger additions and improvements that arrived in the Night of the Moth Update, our most recent patch for Fallout 76. We’ve also wrangled together all of the Zorbo’s Revenge radio plays in case you missed them during the lead up to Season 7, and we’ve got details for you on the start of the Holiday Scorched event later this month.

NIGHT OF THE MOTH UPDATE NOW LIVE

We released our final update of the year for Fallout 76 earlier this week, which brought the new Mothman Equinox Seasonal Event to the game, kicked off Season 7, implemented a wide variety of quality-of-life and public event improvements, and applied a new wave of bug fixes. If you haven’t had the chance to keep up with what’s new in Appalachia, we’ve got you covered. Check out our video and the list of patch highlights below to get caught up to speed on the Night of the Moth Update.

  • Mothman Equinox: Point Pleasant has been transformed by a sect of the Mothman Cult who call themselves the “Enlightened.” Join other Dwellers on the roof of the Mothman Museum every hour at the top of the hour to aid the Enlightened in performing a dark ritual to summon the Wise Mothman and earn the cryptid’s favor. The Mothman Equinox Seasonal Event is available now, and lasts until December 21.
  • New Season, Scoreboard, and Rewards: Doctor Zorbo is out for revenge following his defeat at the hands of Captain Cosmos during Season 1, and you’re going to help him carry out his plot on the new Season 7 Scoreboard. Complete challenges to earn S.C.O.R.E. and unlock a host of new rewards as you rank up this season, including new Allies, in-game currencies, consumables, Power Armor and weapon skins, outfits, C.A.M.P. items, and much more.
  • Quality-of-Life Improvements: Loot lots of nearby corpses all at once, claim legendary items from nearby legendary enemies even if you didn’t manage to hit them, share in the XP from your teammates’ creature kills, keep track of new plans you’ve learned in the C.A.M.P. build menu, customize your Pip-Boy menu colors, and more with our latest round of quality-of-life improvements for Fallout 76.
  • Public Event Balance Changes: With this patch, we’ve streamlined the Public Event system so that a new event starts every 20 minutes in real time. Alongside this, we’ve also implemented a variety of balance changes for events like Radiation Rumble, Project Paradise, Line in the Sand, Swarm of Suitors, Tea Time, and many others.

If you’d like to learn even more about the Night of the Moth Update, you can read through the detailed patch notes by heading here. You can also visit the Seasons page on Fallout.com to preview all of the new rewards in Season 7, and catch developer insights on the Mothman Equinox event by watching our most recent Dev Dive video.

RADIO PLAY ROUNDUP

Season 7 has just begun with the arrival of the Night of the Moth Update, and we’ve been following along with Dr. Zorbo’s mission to enact revenge against Captain Cosmos in a series of audio dramas. In case you missed them, we’ve rounded up all six chapters in three videos below, so that you can listen in as Zorbo travels the universe to recruit a team that will help him obliterate Cosmos once and for all.

If you would like, you can also catch these and past radio plays in-game, along with new tunes and pre-war commercials, by tuning your Pip-Boy to the new Pirate Radio station that we added in our latest update.

THE HOLIDAY SCORCHED RETURN DECEMBER 21!

76 Banner HolidayScorched 750x300

The days are growing colder, Dwellers throughout Appalachia have begun adorning their homes with twinkling lights, and even the Scorched are prepping their most festive attire as we approach the holidays. Starting December 21, get into the spirit of the season by keeping an eye out for Santa-suited “Holiday Scorched,” and listening close for their jingling bells as you adventure around the Wasteland. Each one that you take down will drop a Holiday Gift, which you can open to get a few treats and a chance at rare loot, like new C.A.M.P. item plans. While you’re on the hunt for presents, keep in mind that Holiday Scorched spawn as legendary 1- to 3-star creatures, and they will only appear in exterior locations.

Additionally, don’t forget to visit your favorite vendor to pick up some wrapping paper in exchange for caps. You can bring your wrapping paper to a Tinker’s bench to craft Holiday Gifts of your own, and then open them to get even more loot. The Scorched plan to spread holiday cheer in Appalachia until January 4, so be sure to fill your stocking with goodies by then.

Join us again next week, because we’ll be taking a look back at all of the features and improvements that came to Fallout 76 over the course of this year. Until next time, we’ll see you in Appalachia.
