What’s New in the PTS – August 21, 2020 (Re-Post from Bethesda)

We released a new patch for the PTS earlier today, which included several improvements and bug fixes. Here are some of the highlights from that update.

Design Updates

Legendary Perks

  • Based on community feedback that Legendary Perk upgrade prices felt too high, we’ve reduced the number of Perk Coins required for each rank:
    • Rank 2 reduced from 100 to 50 Perk Coins
    • Rank 3 reduced from 150 to 100 Perk Coins
    • Rank 4 reduced from 250 to 150 Perk Coins

General

  • Fast Travel: It is now free to Fast Travel to Foundation and Crater.
    • This was the case when this PTS phase began, but wasn’t noted originally.

Items

  • Alien Blaster: Damage increased by 30%.
  • Shishkebab: Now deals Fire damage instead of Energy damage.

Bug Fixes

Art & Animation

  • Art: Ghillie Suit Armor Skins no longer block the player’s view in first person while using a Gatling Plasma.
  • Lighting: Corrected lighting issues that were affecting building interiors in Morgantown Trainyard.
  • Visual Effects: Fixed an issue that prevented Uplink Activators in Daily Ops from changing visual states as players make progress toward capturing them.

C.A.M.P. and Crafting

  • Wall Decor: The Legendary Run gameboard no longer disappears from the frame when build in players’ C.A.M.P.s.

Items

  • Armor: The Pocketed Mod for the Raider Chest Piece no longer incorrectly grants more carry capacity than the Deep Pocketed Mod.
  • Gatling Gun: Fixed an issue that could cause an erroneous “crafting item unlocked” notification to appear when scrapping Gatling Guns.
  • Junk: Fixed a rare case where Junk items new characters receive after exiting Vault 76 could become lost when dropped on death.
  • Unarmed Weapons: Fixed an issue causing Unarmed Weapons to deal less damage than intended.
  • Underarmor: Fixed an issue allowing players to craft the Secret Service Camo Underarmor without knowing the Secret Service Underarmor Recipe.
  • Underarmor: Secret Service Underarmor Lining Mods can now be correctly applied to Secret Service Camo Underarmor.

Legendary Perks

  • Blood Sacrifice: Fixed an inconsistency in the Pip-Boy descriptions for different ranks of the Blood Sacrifice Legendary Perk effect.

Quests and Events

  • Ally: Crash Landing: Fixed an issue that could block quest progression during “Ally: Crash Landing.”
  • The Elusive Crane: Fixed an issue that could prevent “The Elusive Crane” from beginning after completing “Strength in Numbers.”
  • Waste Management: The Assaultron boss in The Burrows now scales up more appropriately with player levels.

Stability & Performance

  • Client Stability: Fixed a crash that could occur when using the Pip-Boy.
  • Server Stability: Fixed a server crash that could occur during normal gameplay.

User Interface

  • Armor Ace: The Season S.C.O.R.E. board option in the Main Menu is now correctly labeled “Armor Ace.”
  • Daily Ops: The timed objective to “View Operation Report to Exit” after completing a Daily Op now appears correctly in the objective tracker.

  • Damage Numbers: Now appear correctly when using Grenades and Mines.
  • Notifications: Flyout notifications now appear correctly on the screen when completing Challenges.
  • Seasons: Reduced the size of Season rank progress bars and rank-up reward notifications so that they take up less space on the screen.
  • Seasons: Fixed an issue that prevented rank-up progress and rank reward notifications from appearing until the player exited their Power Armor.

World

  • Gauley Mine: Enemies and loot inside Gauley Mine now scale up more appropriately with player levels.

Welcome back to Inside the Vault! This week, we’d love to see even more of you join us in the Public Test Server to try out upcoming features, like Daily Ops and One Wasteland. JOIN US IN THE PTS

76 Banner CamdenPark 750x300

Last Friday, we re-opened the Public Test Server (PTS) to invite you to join us in play testing upcoming features, including One Wasteland, Daily Ops, and Legendary Perks. We’re grateful for the play testing and time many of you have already put into this phase of the PTS. We’re actively discussing all of the great feedback you’ve been sharing, and we’re lining up a new update for the PTS to address some community-reported bugs.

While participation has been fantastic, we’re still looking for as many players as possible to join us in play testing. Some key areas where you can lend a hand are Daily Ops and One Wasteland. Currently, most PTS players attempting Daily Ops are doing them solo. While that is great, we’d also love to see more team play. We’d like to encourage you to group up with your friends to take on Daily Ops in the PTS together, and to form Daily Ops Public Teams whenever you can (you might even make new friends along the way!)

When it comes to One Wasteland, the majority of our PTS players are using high-level characters. That’s providing us with great data and feedback about creature levels scaling up, but we are also looking for more play testing on the other end of the spectrum. If you would like to help with this, please try starting fresh PTS characters, and then let us know about your experiences with One Wasteland at lower levels.

COMPLETE DAILY OPS IN PTS TO GET A NEW REWARD!

Starting now, players who log into the PTS and spend time play testing upcoming features will receive a new PTS Pennant reward for their C.A.M.P.s in the live game. To earn your Pennant, we’re asking you to complete eight (8) Daily Ops in the PTS before play testing concludes in mid-September. Once we release Update 22, we’ll grant the reward to players who met the goal so that you can show off your dedication to all your C.A.M.P. visitors.

Once again, if you own the PC version of Fallout 76 through Bethesda.net, we would love to see you join us in the PTS. After trying out the new features, please let us know what you think by heading to the PTS forum.

FORTIFYING ATLAS: PROJECT ALPHA COMPLETE

76 Banner FortifyingAtlas2 750x300

Congratulations, Dwellers! The community came together to deliver tons of supplies to ATLAS Observatory over the past couple of weeks, and construction of the Brotherhood’s Appalachian HQ is off to a great start. Along the way, you also managed to unlock the Brotherhood of Steel Beret and C.A.M.P. Banner cosmetics, as well as a Double Daily Challenge Weekend and a week of bonus Challenges. Here are the dates and details for the latter two rewards:

  • Double S.C.O.R.E. Dailies: From August 20 – 24, all of your Daily Challenges will award twice the usual amount of S.C.O.R.E. so that you can rank up even quicker during The Legendary Run.
  • Bonus Challenge Week: From August 26 – 31, we’re adding a few Daily and Weekly Challenges to your usual lineup, which means even more opportunities to rake in extra S.C.O.R.E. each day.

Take time for a little well-deserved R&R to enjoy Meat Week! We’ll begin Project Bravo, the second half of Fortifying ATLAS, on August 27. The first challenge when supply gathering efforts resume will be to deliver 150,000,000 Wood. In exchange for your efforts, everyone will unlock the Steel Dawn Army Fatigues. There are some great community rewards up for grabs if you meet the remaining challenge goals, including the Brotherhood Collectron Station, a Purveyor 50% off Super Sale, and even a second helping of the Meat Week Seasonal Event. So be sure to stock up on wood, cloth, leather, and glass over the coming days.
