Fallout 76 Project Lead Jeff Gardiner Talks Challenges, Hardships & Oblivion (+ highlights)

  • Mid-level ranges were not quite right, hopefully a hotfix to fix that up soon
  • Patch for winter – changes the way survival works – no penalty for hungry/thirsty – will be made into a reward system where you will just lose your buffs if you get too hungry/thirsy
  • Not actively pursuing ‘next gen console’ features yet, but maybe someday
  • Mentions ‘now you can buy perk packs in bullion system?’ – upcoming feature?
  • 2021 will be ‘even crazier, adding more and more content, systems, balance tweaks’ – whole year is planned out
  • Perk loadouts still coming next year
  • ‘Love our builders, really want to focus on that soon’, starting with ‘shelters’ coming this year, and more next year
  • ‘The actual PVP systems, you’d be surprised at how few people engage with that’

Hate the New No-Stealth Mechanic in Daily Ops? GOOD NEWS!

For all those who hate no stealth in this daily op (I’m also a stealth build!)

“For our second game mode we’re looking into emphasizing stealth and sniper gameplay with fewer but more powerful enemies. Our goal with various randomizations is to make different players feel like the ‘hero’ for the day. Some days you’ll feel like the combination was made specifically for you, and others you may have to group up with friends or Public Teams to get the top tier.”

“One of the key areas we tried to improve throughout Season 1 and now into Season 2 is the amount of S.C.O.R.E. available to be earned through the Daily and Weekly Challenges. We added variety of double S.C.O.R.E. Events and extra challenges, and we permanently increased the amount of daily challenges to give players more options to progress to Rank 100. That being said, we heard continued feedback on players wanting more of the S.C.O.R.E. to be moved into Weekly Challenges instead of Dailies, so in Season 2 we are increasing the number of Weeklies in response and moving some of the S.C.O.R.E. earned from Daily Challenges to Weekly Challenges.”

FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – SEPTEMBER 2020 UPDATES (Re-Print From Bethesda)

Welcome back to Inside the Vault! We hope you’ve all been having a blast with the One Wasteland update, which we released a few days ago. In case you missed it, we’ve included a quick summary below so you can catch the highlights. We’ve also made a few adjustments to our 2020 Roadmap and Community Calendar as our plans continue to evolve this year. Finally, everyone has earned a second helping of the Meat Week Seasonal Event, which begins next Tuesday, and you read on to catch the details.


ONE WASTELAND UPDATE NOW LIVE

In case you missed it, we released a major update for Fallout 76 earlier this week, which included features that we have been very excited to get into your hands: One Wasteland allows creature difficulty to dynamically adjust to better suit each individual player, so you can explore anywhere in Appalachia with your friends more easily than ever before. Legendary Perks will help you pack even more punch and utility into your character builds once you’ve reached level 50+. Daily Ops bring challenging, randomized, and repeatable missions to the game that you can complete as often as you’d like, whether alone or on a team. You can also claim tons of cosmetics and other in-game rewards by ranking up during Fallout 76 Season 2, which kicked off this week and includes the all-new Armor Ace Scoreboard.

UPDATED 2020 ROADMAP & COMMUNITY CALENDAR

From the launch of Wastelanders, to the arrival of Seasons, new events, and features like One Wasteland, Daily Ops, and Legendary Perks, it has been a game-changing year for Fallout 76. In a previous version of our 2020 Roadmap, we had shown you that the Steel Dawn questline was planned to arrive in the Fall, followed by the continuation of the story with Fractured Steel in Winter. After further discussion, we’ve decided that we would like the Brotherhood’s return to Appalachia to be a larger moment for the game. As a result, we are combining Steel Dawn and Fractured Steel so that you have more story quests to dig into at once. We’ll have more details to share about what you can expect from these new adventures in the coming weeks.

Additionally, while we want to fill 2020 with as much fun as possible, we also want to make sure we have the time necessary to fully develop some of the other features and content we’re planning to release. So, we’ve made a few adjustments to our schedule and included them in an updated Roadmap below. Even though we’re moving a few things into 2021, there is still plenty of excitement to come as we head into the final three months of this year.

Aside from our larger updates, we also love adding regular weekend events into the game so that the community always has a variety of activities to look forward to. It’s been a little while since we’ve refreshed our community calendar, and you can catch a look at the updated schedule below. Be sure to mark down these dates so that you don’t miss any of the action from week to week.

MEAT WEEK RETURNS TUESDAY

As the final reward for your efforts during the Fortifying ATLAS community challenges, Grahm and Chally have agreed to return for another helping of the Meat Week Seasonal Event. Not that it took much convincing. . . Grahm is always looking for an excuse to celebrate his favorite homegrown holiday.

We’ve also made a couple of adjustments to Primal Cuts events based on community feedback during the previous Meat Week. From now on, all Prime Beasts will display quest targets so that they’re easier to track down. Additionally, during the final creature wave, you will only need to take down the boss beast in order to complete Primal Cuts. This should help everyone complete these events more consistently so that you can focus on the true meaning of the holiday: grilling up delicious treats with all of your Appalachian pals.

MEAT WEEK SEASONAL EVENT DETAILS
  • Event Start: Primal Cuts events begin at 11:00 a.m. ET on September 22, and the first Meat-Cook kicks off at 12:00 p.m. ET.
    • After that, Primal Cuts events will start every 15 minutes around Appalachia, and Grahm’s Meat-Cook will appear every hour near Vault 76.
  • Event End: The final Meat-Cook event will take place at 12:00 p.m. ET on September 28.
