FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – JANUARY 2021 UPDATES (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome back to Inside the Vault! This week, we’re sharing a new video we created to walk you through the inventory improvements coming with our next game update on Tuesday. We’re also running a pair of in-game events this weekend that will net you Double XP and some bonus Caps! Read on to catch the details.

INVENTORY UPDATE INCOMING

On Tuesday, January 26, we’re planning to release our first update of the year, which will include a variety of inventory-related quality-of-life improvements. In case you’d like a refresher on the changes that are on the way, we’ve put together a video overview detailing them in-game so that you can get up to speed before next week’s update.

In addition to the improvements we’ve already shared, we’re also making an adjustment to the outlines that appear when building in your C.A.M.P., Shelters, or Workshops. Going forward, whenever you find a valid spot to place an object, its outline will appear light-blue instead of green. This should help some of our players with colorblindness more easily differentiate between valid and invalid placement when they’re building their latest and greatest C.A.M.P. creations.

Next, we’ve been reading lots of the feedback you’ve been posting about the frequency of upper-tier Daily Ops rewards. We want to make sure that your efforts are always rewarded when you complete a Daily Op fast enough to hit Elder Tier, and so we’re making a change to do just that. You will still only be able to achieve Elder Tier once per day, but you will now receive loot from the rare rewards pool every time you do.

If you play Fallout 76 on PC through Bethesda.net, there are still a few days left to get some early hands-on time with these improvements in the Public Test Server (PTS). We’re planning to keep the PTS running until the morning of January 25, so be sure to log in, do some playtesting, and then let us know what you think by posting in the PTS forum.

DOUBLE XP AND CAPS-O’-PLENTY EVENTS LIVE NOW!

We’re amping up the fun this weekend with a pair of in-game events that will help you level-up more quickly and score some extra Caps from Vendors along the way! Over the next few days, you will be able to earn twice as many experience points during your adventures with Double XP in all game modes.

At the same time, we’re running a “Caps-o’-Plenty” event, which doubles the number of Caps available at Vendors throughout Appalachia from 1,400 to 2,800 each day. Vendor Caps reset every 20 hours in real-time, so be sure to haul any excess gear and junk you find to the nearest Vendor every day this weekend to top off your collection of Caps. Check out the event times below so that you can rake in as much XP and as many Caps as possible.

COMBO EVENT DETAILS
  • Events: Double XP in all game modes, plus double the usual daily Caps from Vendors.
  • Start: 12:00 p.m. ET on January 21
  • End: 12:00 p.m. ET on January 25

FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – HAPPY NEW YEAR! (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome back! With the holiday season squarely in our rearview mirror, we’re looking ahead to what’s in store for Fallout 76 in 2021. The fun will begin with some inventory quality-of-life improvements at the end of this month, and we’re kicking off a new phase of Public Test Server (PTS) playtesting so that you can check them out early. We’re also sharing details on this weekend’s upcoming Double S.C.O.R.E. event, and a reminder about our weekly Fallout 76 community streams.

NEW YEAR, NEW PTS!

Last month, we shared a look at the quality-of-life improvements we’re planning to include in our first Fallout 76 update of the year. Now, we’d like to invite Bethesda.net PC players to get some early hands-on time with these changes in a new phase of PTS playtesting.

We’re calling this an “Inventory Update,” because it’s going to introduce a variety of improvements for how you manage your stuff. As a brief overview, it will include a Stash increase to 1,200 pounds, add “Armor” and “Food/Drink” tabs to the Pip-Boy, display the total weights of any item stacks you have, and expand on Player Vending Machine previews on the Map. These are going to be very positive changes for the game, and we would love for you to join us in playtesting to help ensure they are solid and polished before release at the end of January

To get playtesting rolling as soon as possible, we’re re-opening the PTS starting a little later today, January 7. As always, all players who own a PC copy of Fallout 76 through Bethesda.net can dive into the PTS to try out the upcoming improvements. If you do, be sure to head over to the PTS forum to let us know what you think and report any bugs you encounter.
