FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – MARCH UPDATES (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome back to Inside the Vault! This week, we’re sharing a few varied details about the Wastelanders update that we thought you might like to keep in mind now as we get closer to launch day. We’ve also got details for you about a new Legendary Sale Event from the Purveyor.

STRANGLER HEART POWER ARMOR ADJUSTMENTS

We’ve been actively investigating community reports that Strangler Heart Power Armor can cause players to experience a performance issue, especially during events like Scorched Earth. To address this, we’re planning to make several adjustments to the acid damage effects applied by the armor’s set bonuses, which were the main culprits behind the bug. These changes will be coming with Wastelanders, and we’d like to share details about them with you before that update arrives:

  • First, acid damage applied by the player’s attacks will no longer stack multiple times on the same enemy.
    • Instead, only one stack of acid damage from an attack will affect an enemy at any given time.
  • Next, we’re reducing the duration of the damage over time effect applied by acid from attacks, but also increasing its total damage to compensate.
  • Finally, enemies will still be affected by the armor’s area of effect damage, but we’re decreasing the size of that area by about 25%.

This will mean an overall reduction in damage output for Strangler Heart Power Armor. However, it is important to us to offer smoother experiences by tackling the performance issue head-on, even if that means we need to compromise on the armor’s overall power. We believe these changes remain faithful to the Strangler Heart’s original design, while also enabling you to wear it with confidence the next time you take on the Scorchbeast Queen.

GRAB THE LOOT AND GO

With Wastelanders, we’re implementing a quality of life improvement to offer more choice in how you interact with many pre-placed items in the game. Going forward, when you find items that are not in containers like weapons, food, recipes, and many others, you will be given the option to press and hold the interact button to use that item right away. For example, if you spot a weapon lying on a shelf, you can either press the interact button once add it to your inventory, or hold it down instead to favorite and equip the weapon immediately. This should make it easier than ever to consume aid items you find, make use of a new weapon, or quickly learn a plan or recipe.

PLANT YOUR HEART OUT

Green thumbed Dwellers in the community have been asking more flexibility in where they can plant crops within their C.A.M.P.s. We’d like share a sneak peek of a new reputation reward coming with Wastelanders that we hope budding farmhands around Appalachia are going to love: Farmable Tiles.

Farmable Tiles are a new option when building that will let you place fertile soil wherever you can construct a floor or foundation in your C.A.M.P. In addition to planting outside your home, you will be able to reduce your carbon footprint by planting crops indoors, or even on the roof. Of course, this is just one of several rewards you can get by increasing your reputation with the Settler and Raider factions, and we are excited for you to discover the others as you progress.
